As do he number of high school classmates she put on the Alaska payroll at salaries much higher than they were making in the private sector. As Charles says, everyone brings in their own people, but they are supposed to be at least marginally qualified and not mainly social acquaintances.
BTW, I saw a funny line about the election, from David Letterman. "So we may have a vice president who likes to hunt. I mean, what could go wrong there?" LOL
