I haven't see that one yet, but for my money, I think anything that entertains while making Bill Gates seem more ...well, human, is good advertising, and may well sell a few Microsoft products. In general I think people like those who can poke fun at themselves. It leaves a smile and a good impression.

I think a lot of us are too close to things as software developers. These ads are not aimed at us.

>I enjoyed the 2nd ad, but it did leave me with the feeling that both Seinfeld and Gates were much like the idiot in the Mac ads... And there was the pizza delivery guy in that ad and the idiot in the pizza box in the Mac ad...
>
>It also pointed out how both Gates and Seinfeld were out of touch with the public. They made it a point in the 2nd ad (bedroom scene) too. Not sure how that helps sell windows...

>>I kind of liked the first ad (haven't seen any others yet). It was like the Seinfeld show itself. A commercial about nothing, but entertaining. Yep. I liked it. And if they're going to continue in much the same vane, then they need to use Gates so that people will know it's about Windows and Microsoft.

>>>Windows makes more money than FoxPro. If you watch the campaign, it's a progression, each builds on the first. I thought the second add, especially when you see the full 4+ minutes online, was much better than the first.
