Hi Doug ---

I'm just speculating right now (on a trip, no VFP access) but why not a PRG with a PROCEDURE _SCREEN.Caption_Access or whatever _SCREEN property? If the PROCEDURE is run within an app, would it be respected? Can somebody here on the UT test this? I can but not until Friday.

>There's no way to have any of the events of _SCREEN execute your code. Think about it. How would you get the code associated with the event? You can't open _SCREEN in the form designer, for example, and you can't replace it at runtime with your own class or form. The top-level form design is the only way to get code in the methods of the containing form, which is actually the reason why the top-level form capabilities were added to VFP5 in the first place.
