Hi Pat ---
OK, I guess I'm confused as to why you can't encapsulate all of this functionality within a combobox itself and not have to use a hidden textbox...
>Sorry for the ambiguity on my question. I should explain in more detail my problem. First, I need to edit information selected in the combo box while still maintaining the incremental search feature. To do this, I created not only the combo box but also a hidden text box. When the operator activates the drop-down combo and clicks a given record, at that point I am attempting to shitch to edit mode by making the combo invisible and the text box visible. The only method I found which activates just after clicking the drop-down seems to be the WHEN event. So I used the WHEN event to first try to capture the current record (or even it's display value) and then toggle the visible/invisible logic from combo to text. Unfortunately, the only record I receive is the one at to beginning of the view. The InteractiveChange event doesn't work until something is typed into the text box. I trapped the event sequences and saved them to file and noticed there is a call in the file
>"form1.combo1.text1". FoxPro must generate this form on it's own. PS...thanks so much for your prompt response. You folks are great!!!
