Hm, the result is always that the pipe is parted. It makes some differnece if you grind, burn, saw or cut (to the material structure around the "cut")
Just to be curious:
Do you cut or shear with a knife? In my (german) understanding I could use "cut" with both, but not "shear" with a knife.
I mean the technical process, the result would be, at least to me, a cut.
