>>>>>>My brother (who used to be a stock broker and is still very active on the market) called me this morning (at 8:30 am) and said that the market will go up 1000 points today.

>>>The stock market is just guess and speculation. It is legalized gambling on top of a pyramid scheme. Now everybody (gambler or not) gets to pay for the gambling losses. Otherwise the gamblers would be the only ones to lose.

>>On the last part we certainly agree. We, the average Joes, are going to wind up covering the losses of the high flyers.

>Isn't it interesting that Company A loans you 10,000 and now you owe Company A 13,000 (just an example). Then Company A runs out of running capital so the government gives Company A 10,000, essentially paying off the principal of your loan. Yet you still owe Company A 13,000. How is that? :o)

This means a $10K is created out of the thin air (as were the initial $10K and the additional $3k... well that last part may have been your real created value). This whole economy reminds me of the old Polish cartoon, Lolek & Bolek - two kids who'd go into any silly adventure, and would have a magical pencil which they would use to, say, draw an airplane and then fly it. Whatever this pencil drew became real... just like this Mickey Mouse money.

(correction: I think the air is actually very thick)
