>>>The Dutch are leading the way in the new exodus from Europe. Last year's number confirm that the Dutch are experiencing the largest net outflow of people since the post-war emigration boom of the 1950s...

>>>Your description of life in Netherlands is idealic - they can do no wrong, so my question is Why?

>>Is it, I've critisized my country on number of occasions, but of course that gets lost while the reader is forcused on the critisism on the US government :)

>>Agreeing upon a number of things, esspecially the problems of the marrocan and antilian youth. Those problem are mostly limited to the bigger cities. There certainly is awareness this is a problem that needs to be taken care off, but we are still searching of what that is. In the nineties no politician wanted to burn there fingers on the problem as it would classify them as a racist. This is somewhat changing.

>>IMO, there are several reasons to get out of the netherlands.
>>
>>1. We are a very crowded country. People who are searching for more space are tempted to search outside.
>>2. The dutch have a history of very good tradesmen. If they see they can make money or a carreer elsewhere they might do it.
>>3. As a result of 1 and 2 combined with the very strict regulations, esspecially in agriculture many choose to emigrate to countries like new zealand, Canada, the US and even to eastern europe to start farms. It becomes very hard up here to start farms, so if you want to continue your farm, it might be wise to look at opportunities outside. An example is an ice skating marathon hero (evert van bentum) who move to canada for exactly this reason.
>>4. Lost of dutch like adventures. Just like, for example the australians and kiwi's. They want to see something about the world. many choose to work elsewhere for a number of years and return to the Netherlands later. Some don't and that is why I see dutch names all over the world.
>>5. Something that is not mentioned, but certainly is a significant factor, has to do with housepricing. Houses in the Netherlands are very expensive. Houses in Germany and Belgium are much and much cheaper. The last decade or so, many dutch have bought a house just accross the border to escape taxes and/or just to have a big house for much less money. Most of them still work in the netherlands (we can choose to live and work where we want in the EU) because the wages are better.
>>6. Climat. Lots of older dutch enjoy their retirement in Spain in dutch oriented villages. The wheater is so much better than here. They still receive their pension form the dutch government.
>>7. Life is fast, stressing and oriented on work, work and earning money (like in the US, we copied that, thank you). Some of them search the slower way of life in other parts of europe (south). Rememer many europeans like to work to live, not live to work.

Hmmm, I don't think a lot of UK citizens would cross the border and still work in the UK for housepricing...

>If you think Holland is crowded visit the South East of the UK some time.

I visit the UK quite frequently but mostly the midlands and arround london. Holland is still more crowded than the UK, but england I learned is getting more crowded than the netherlands.
