Scenario:

Mary goes out with the captain of the football team While necking after their date, the football captain rapes her.

1957: Mary tells the Principal who tells her she's a slut. Besides, the team can't win without its star player

2008: Mary tell the Principal who calls the police who then arrest the rapist. The other girls are questioned to see who else has been raped. The rapist goes to prison for only a fraction of the time he deserves, but at least he doesn't get congratulated for being a stud.

Scenario:

It becomes common knowledge that Johnny is gay

1957: The football team herds Johnny into the bathroom and pounds him to a pulp. After four or five times, Johnny goes out and slits his wrist. Football team congratulates itself that "we rid of one of them."

2008: Nothing at all happens


Scenario:

The son of a black sharecropper is seen looking at a white women "strangely"

1957: He's never seen again

2008: They are now dating.
