>John McCain announced yesterday that he is suspending his campaign to help deal with the financial crisis. He said he would not participate in tomorrow night's scheduled Presidential debate if the Senate has not passed a bill in response to the administration's bailout proposal. Barack Obama said he wants the debate to proceed as scheduled.

I don't see why John could not debate Obama from the Senate chambers remotely - how long does it last?... about an hour?
But that is not going to happen, since the people in charge of the debate want to control it completely.
Obama said that a President should be able to do multiple things at one time.... ok.... he should be there with John in the Senate on Thursday and Friday, then later on Friday, fly to the debate and make his point.
