>Well, apparently, the Obama campaign is sending cease-and-desist style letters to media outlets to prevent them from running ads criticizing Obama. I can't directly link to the site with the letter because the the URL contains a word I don't think Mike would like to see here, but look at the "Shut Up, The Explained" topic in this page from the Wall Street Journal

>This is not the first time that the Obama campaign has attempted to intimidate a media outlet (the links I could post!). In the interest of fairness can someone show an example of McCain's camp doing the same?
Seriously, if media are airing lies, then sue them for libel upside and down. If not, then intimidating news outlets is a real good way to get yourself hung out to dry. On the other hand, the letter doesn't talk at all about a lawsuit. It simply asks the station to not air things that it knows or should know are outright lies. I don't have a real big problem with that regardless whether it's Obama or McCain. In all, the letter is not all that intimidating. Would it stop you from airing something you were sure was true?

>Typical leftist tactic - silence the critics by any means possible. This is so anti-American I don't see how this is defensible in the least. I don't anticipate a lot of response to this post by my Democratic friends.
