>Being a has-been means never having to say you're sorry ... errrr ... because you're a has-been. You don't always have to be right anymore :-)

Whew ... the pressure's off ... except I *like* being right! ;-)

>Someone else in this thread made the comment that it was like the Oscars - they couldn't take it away from you once awarded. That's the way I look at it. I lost mine when I joined MS but I considered it a fair trade at the time.

>The award is also circumstantial and political. There are folks out there (I won't embarrass them by naming them) who should be lifetime MVPs emeritus and there are those who help a lot of people for a buck and are MVPs for strategic/political reasons. And there are those who should be MVPs on merit but who have to work for a living and don't have the volume of posts to attract notice.

Right! I totally agree.

>Just be proud of what you have done and the many people you have helped. I respect you, Doug, Dave F., Carl, and all the other former MVPs as much as the current ones. As do thousands of others I'm sure. You really have nothing more to prove and have already had a huge impact on the developer community that no one can ever take away from you.

Wow John ... that was terrific! Makes me feel a whole lot better, seriously. Thanks! =0)
