In my opinion, the biggest problem with honesty and accuracy is the coverage of the speeches. I've trolled the news channels constantly and each and every one is continuouly regurgitating speeches by both candidates, and quite a bit in the speeches is not accurate at all, but rather a 'spin' on the other candidate's position molded to suit their audience. This has happened more with Obama than with McCain. The media broadcasts Obama's claims more than it does McCain. The media reports 'Candidate A stated in a speech today' and never validates whether the statement candidate B made is accurate or not. I have seen some 'special investigations' on the candidates' speeches, but they are few and far between. The majority of the time is spent just broadcasting speeches and slanted claims.

>>Well, apparently, the Obama campaign is sending cease-and-desist style letters to media outlets to prevent them from running ads criticizing Obama. I can't directly link to the site with the letter because the the URL contains a word I don't think Mike would like to see here, but look at the "Shut Up, The Explained" topic in this page from the Wall Street Journal

>>This is not the first time that the Obama campaign has attempted to intimidate a media outlet (the links I could post!). In the interest of fairness can someone show an example of McCain's camp doing the same?

>>Typical leftist tactic - silence the critics by any means possible. This is so anti-American I don't see how this is defensible in the least. I don't anticipate a lot of response to this post by my Democratic friends.

>So if some third party organization were to put out an ad full of lies about McCain, the McCain campaign shouldn't request that stations not air it?

>I think we should all be trying to get the lies out of the process.
