There are time when an institution will require a document which I have on the SD Card and would like to print it off for them and my work progresses.

If you have ActiveSync installed on that computer it should work - as soon as you plug it into the computer it should appear as new volume in Windows Explorer. You can copy files to and from it at that point. If they don't have ActiveSync you'd need a plug-in adapter to convert the SD card to a USB connection (then just pop out the memory card from the phone and put it into the adapter).
