Ain't no code of my involved. I do have a subclass for my combobox, but it doesn't do anything with keystrokes. I don't see how there's anything I'm doing to affect this.

But this is not native behavior for combo boxes. You can check it out yourself. Drop a base class combo box on the form and set its RowSource. You will be able to use the back space key.
