Hi Al,
That is an avenue yet to be explored/tested. I must admit that I have not done much with Cursor Adapters etc.
The apps are form centric where fields are bound to views. Local views to work against a VFP database or remote views to work against a SQL-Server back end. With the exception of a few tweaks for SQL-Pass thru vs. local queries, the data store is completely transparent and the app works seamlessly in both environments. We have hundreds of customers so changing the way we connect to data in the app may not be too practical. In an attempt to be $en$itive to my customers budget considerations I was hoping to allow customers to start using MySQL (FREE) as an alternative SQL backend. MySQL works great, once the views are built, but the delay associated with getting them built could be a show stopper....
I was hoping that with all the smart VFP folks on the UT, someone would have experienced this issue and resolved it. In the mean time, I'm creating some ODBC trace files to see if I, perhaps in conjunction with some MySQL folks (that are much smarter that me), can figure out what's going on.
Alec
