Hi Dragan & Carlos,

Thanks so much for the reply. Seems as if in giving too much information in another reply I have caused to point of the original question to stray... I use SPT fairly extensively for many operations and am familiar with that approach...

However, in this circumstance it is the reason that there is a delay in creating a remote view to MyQSL that I am trying to figure out. More specifically, I am fairly sure that the delay is associated with a SELECT being passed to the MySQL back-end and wonder why that is happening on a CREATE statement. I was wondering if anyone had seen this behavior and could explain it. Perhaps an OPTIONS setting on the connect string would influence it? Or perhaps it is a design difference in the ODBC driver as compared to the drivers for MS-SQL?
