Taliban got the short end of the USA elections. Whoever elected got committed to fight them as long as possible, i.e. forever. Doing otherwise will be considered politically incorrect. Please remember, before replying, that Vietnam was essentially Dem party endeavor, so pacifism does not exclude military travesties if the latter is considered politically expedient.
