It's a violent culture up there. ( believe me those of us just on the other side of the lake, fearing imminent invasion and sheltering political refugees swimming the lake to escape the jackboot of the Mounties know full well)
I would also say that the idea of cutting brake-lines is very un-American. We have guns.
