>I have a friend who is looking for an MP3 player for her daughter. What are some options with downloading music? Obviously, Ipod\Itunes but 99 cents a pop can get a little expensive, especially for a young child who's tastes change constantly. Can anybody recommend any subscription-based players or plans?

Limewire. Pay the $20 per year and get the pro version. You can also set filters so you can avoid virus stuff. There may be better ones for kids, and I've had a few people here say that they had problems with it, but I've used it for a year or so know with no issues.
