>>>>>Gay marriage is legal now, in three states, but not Tennessee. Personally, I don't agree, but if that's what those states want to do, it's on them.

>>>Did you include Connecticut in your three? The state supreme court just gave a decision that makes same sex marriage ok in this state now. Now there is a big movement to get an item on the Novemeber ballot to hold a state consittution ammendment process. I guess first we have to vote to have the ammendmend process and then tduring the process the issues to be ammended get discussed.

>>Yes, Connecticut is the third state. If the amendment passes, how do you uncrack an egg?

>The local news has been interesting in that issue. Nobody seems to know exaclty what would happen if the constitution were to be chnaged to disallow the same sex marriage. Some are saying that those that were married would remain as such but new marriages could not take place others are guessing that all of the marriages would be anulled. As far as I am concerned I don't really care one way or the other. IN my book there is the state institution of marriage which is a contract between two people and there is the religious sacrement of marriage which is governed by cononical law and little or nothing to do with the state legality issue. Oersonally I think if two people are running a household togehter then they should be entitled to the same legal remedies and social benefits that any household is entitled to. Whether that is called marriage or not is not really relevant to me as in my mind a religious marriage is outside the control of the government anyway.

I agree as long as the marriage abides by all other laws such as not being polygamy. I think the law should allow marriage as well as civil unions and then leave it up to the various religions as to whether or not they want to perform the ceremony and/or recognize it. Some religions don't recognize current legal marriages as it is.
