Now there is a big movement to get an item on the Novemeber ballot to hold a state consittution ammendment process. I guess first we have to vote to have the ammendmend process and then tduring the process the issues to be ammended get discussed.

>>>The local news has been interesting in that issue. Nobody seems to know exaclty what would happen if the constitution were to be chnaged to disallow the same sex marriage. Some are saying that those that were married would remain as such but new marriages could not take place others are guessing that all of the marriages would be anulled. As far as I am concerned I don't really care one way or the other. IN my book there is the state institution of marriage which is a contract between two people and there is the religious sacrement of marriage which is governed by cononical law and little or nothing to do with the state legality issue. Oersonally I think if two people are running a household togehter then they should be entitled to the same legal remedies and social benefits that any household is entitled to. Whether that is called marriage or not is not really relevant to me as in my mind a religious marriage is outside the control of the government anyway.

>>As far as I see it, government suppresses and prosecutes polygamy even if it is just a religious marriage arrangement.

>Which seems to me particularly offensive in that there are no sanctions for males who father children without marriage with multiple women simultaneously and there is very little sanction for failing to suppor those children.

So true. Now those who practice the 'wacko polygamy' (aka, warren jeffs & crew) - are just as bad. These creeps will have several wifes, but often time they don't even all live in the same house! Then, these women (or girls in a lot of cases) start having babies and it's nothing more than a way to get some free $ from the government - because technically now they're a single mother.
Now I don't see anything wrong with having more than one spouse - but cooome on you all need to be together! Otherwise what's the point? It's called having more than one girl-friend / boyfriend, not having more than one spouse..duhh! It's a group effort & either everyone is for it and in, or not. And plus what if there was one girl who wanted to live with two men? These weirdo's would probably stone them all to death or somethin.
