>>>You're absolutely right. If we elect a Democrat the economy will fall apart.
>>
>>Now that I thought about it, my statement was awkward and silly. Sorry... even though I think somewhere in my statement is a valid point... anyway.
>>
>>What I mean to say, or ask, is how is giving "free" money to some able-bodied who won't work going to help him in the long run? What would be his incentive to want to go out and make his own living? Isn't that like giving a student who refuses to apply himself at school part of my grade to bring his grade up to a "C" while bringing my grade down to a "C"? How does that help anyone? Maybe that's Obama's goal, everyone should end up with a "C" instead of an "A" or a "B". Why, you can't get an "A" while Johnny over there is sitting back, relaxed and working on a "D", that's not equal.
>>
>>I agree that there has to be some sort of a help system for the those who really want to try hard, but where does this end? Some one, awhile back, said erosion happens slowy, you know... the slippery slope theory. Will it end when we're all working for the gov't in a factory somewhere?
>>
>>Why is it a good idea to take money away from people who create jobs?
>>
>>Funny thing happens when you take away people's money... they stop spending, hiring and investing.
>>
>>Honestly, I don't think Obama will be able to play Robin Hood (at least I hope he'll have good advisors to stop him). It's the fact that he wants to is what's bothering me. I want to see him give 50% of his own money away first, then he can talk about taking away any body else's.
>>
>>Really Mike, if it wasn't for this, I would really consider about voting for him... no, I'm not kidding.

>What you are missing in this goal of his is the fact (and I believe it would happen) that he would gain worldwide support (I mean that literally) for lifting the masses above the poverty level here in the U.S. into the middle income range without those people every having to work a single day. I have absolutely no problem doing that for those physically or mentally unable to work, but NOT for anyone else.

Yes, I acknowledge all of what you say. I have no issue with helping those who really need help. I thought I conveyed that thought in my post. Thanks for clarifying.

>Of course, I don't need to spell out how (for most) living below the poverty level here in the U.S. is nothing like living in real poverty.
The American Republic will endure, until politicians realize they can bribe the people with their own money.
- Alexis de Tocqueville

No man’s life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session.
– Mark Twain (1866)
