You're paying the cable so they can show you what's already been paid by commercials. You can pay that all over again, if you want, they never refuse money. You can go digital - rent a box and pay the initial subscription, then you can watch many more advertisements for other channels where you can pay even more to actually see something that wasn't already paid by advertising (or self-advertising).
