>>His wife is a staunch member of the Democrat Party. It was his publicly announced reason for not running for President himself years ago. I don't doubt that in either an Obama or McCain Presidency that administration members will come from both parties. There is much in Obama's policies that I like, and much that I don't like. The same with McCain. I would prefer that Obama had more time in the Senate before running in order to give more history to judge by. It is obviously his time now though and since it has been clear for quite some time that Obama will win, I hope he lives up to the hopes and dreams of those who support him so strongly. I have questioned everything I found on both sides and neither is ideal but I think the country will do well with either one of them.

>What if hopes and dreams of those who support him so strongly are not adequate to your hopes? It might happen that most Obama supporters may have different understanding what is good for this country. Please, note that very significant part of them are just chronically lured by free ride promises.

What concerns me most is not even his socialist views and his belief in wealth redistribution (he stated that plainly himself), but this overwhelming obsession with him that more than 2/3rds of the country seems to have. He is appearing at the Crown Coliseum today not 3 miles from my home. I can't even get out of my driveway. The roads are jammed with half the city (at least) trying to get there.

His speech is available live here:

Colin Powell's comments (not from the tv show Meet The Press):

Update: Obama's speech was an excellent speech for a military town. He was here in the past (I posted he changed his position on Iraq when he spoke here then), but this speech surpassed that one. Well done. He certainly is quite the orator...
