Sorry about the delay, clients had problems and then came the Southwest Fox conference (great event!).

It's astonishing what guidance someone else's code can be. I had some property settings wrong and somehow got confused about CA properties and CURSORSETPROP() calls. By simply tweaking and setting some properties to match yours, all works fine now.
