I read this post other way :-(m maybe I am wrong but I think Kjeil wants to know what node he is dragging, not to highlight the node that is under mouse cursor. I never make CreateDragImage to work.
I searched almost everywhere to see how to create icon from the text of the select node. (something like whan you drag from Windows Explorer and see the name of the folder (file) you drag.
