Sport is what one does for fun: "organised or unorganised recreation, usually following specific sets of rules and in the form of competition". Usually, but not necessarily. Recreation, not occupation.
Of course, as long as there are sheep, there will be sweaters. People are willing to pay to see others compete in long spit - fine, charge them tickets. Just don't forget where the word "sport" came from.
