1) Paddling without a paddle is sort of stupid and is very tiresome. Your boat won't get far.

2) Paddling is the reason paddles were invented.

3) Beating anyone is not regular use, no matter the method. I'd call that abuse.

(I'm also guilty of abusing sugar - I keep it in a dark place and don't even look at it for months to see how is it doing without water and daylight)
