Maybe more than you realise the american culture and politics are exported to the rest of the world each and every day. Remember that the american election debates are front page news up here and some things are live broadcasted. Each aspect from the mudthrowing, the speech of colin powel, the assasination attempts, all reach the front page. EVERY ctitizen up here is, high or low schooled, confronted with american politics and culture. It reached the point that it is shadowing our own elections. Now please put that in contrast with joe average in the USA. He might (slight chance) come up with the name of the prime minister of the UK, though I'd bet that most will say "Tony Blair".

Funny that you should mention UK, because it's about the only other country in the world which has television, radio and actors.
