I remember a similar bit of wisdom from my elementary school days:

A sparrow was freezing out there on the country road, and fainted of exhaustion. Then a cow passed and unloaded a huge pile of warm dung on him. Within minutes, he came about, and even started doing some exercise, stretching his wings and generally feeling happy. This activity was spotted by a cat, who came, pulled him out and ate him.

Three morals to this story:

- not everyone who gets you deep into stool is your enemy

- when you're deep in it, don't advertise the fact

- not everyone who gets you out of it is your friend
