>>Hmmmm... are affected by FUD of the R's? Even up here where the taxes are really high, they don't own my property and they certainly don't own me. Fear as an instrument is really a bad idea. Who do you think is paying for the cost on war on terror and the other financial mistakes of the last 8 years? Hint... it is not the ones who are responsible for it.

>Hey, once they CONVINCE you that they need more of your money to "service" you, you are owned and you don't even know it. You pretty much said it yourself.

??? The government needs money to provide infrastructure, law and order, army, regulation of this and that. Without it you'll be living in anarchy. My government does not have to convince me that they need tax income to provide health care etc. The government, whether it is yours or mine is responsible for creating and maintaining the environment where you live in right now. If you are calling that controlled, really you're as much controlled than I am.

I'm more concerned on how our economy is doing, and the quality of services they provide (e.g. health care, law and order, infrastructure) and the future for my children, then is to worry about tax rises. Taxes are just an instrument, not a burden to happyness.

What people tend to forget that when global taxes are increased wages are ussually increased as well. If you lower the taxes, the government and market will ensure that extra money ends up anywhere, except your own wallet.

>Once you depend on the gov't to provide you with services other then the basic human rights...religion, speech, association, persuit of happiness, bridges, highways... etc, you are owned. They don't really even need your property once they have you addicted to their "services".

I do regard public safety, public healthcare, and regulation (e.g. FDA, CDC) as bare bones as well.

>Or they can do what Obama is trying to do, slap half the people in America with other people's money and bribe them for their votes. Why get them addicted gradually when you can do it in one big swoop... promise of free money.

Yeah and the earth is flat. What did Bush sr. do with "Read my lips: No more taxes" ?
It would be interesting to hear from you, who is responsible for the financial crisis and how you think we can ensure our children a future without dealing with the enormous financial problems right now?

The world is far more complex than the oversimplification is that the government is evil (however I can understand that after 8 years of GWB) and only is there to get your money to give it away to something that is not in your interests. It is not only very ego centric, but also quite ignorant.
