I disagree with some of the others. Both SQL and SET RELATION (xbase) are reliable. It is more a design issue than whether it is a good practice or not. Ask yourself (and verify if you can):

1. Is there a visible performance difference between the two different approaches?
2. Will you ever move your app to a different backend such as SQL Server?
3. Will you ever access the data from a different front end?

I have found that it is not cut and dried. Sometimes one approach is faster or just better suited than the other.

Programming sometimes is an art. Just be glad you have choices! :o)
