One of the reasons soccer has still not caught on completely in this country is casual viewers are turned off by all the diving. The American sports ideal is to suck it up and play through pain even if your lower leg is hanging by a flap of skin. Lots of soccer players, epitomized by Ronaldo, act like they've been shot every time they feel a breeze.

With the blanket TV coverage available I don't see why they can't have a panel to review that sort of thing and hand out some hefty penalties to the offenders. Football could learn a lot from rugby. The referees decision is final only the captain is allowed to speak to the referee etc.
