Excellent suggestion. I didn't know that dBase file can be opened in Excel. The only thing that I am not sure about is which MEMO field is lost when Excel opens a table. Since in dBase there are two files, .dbf and .dbt, I presume it has a memo field but when I scan this file in Excel I don't seem to see a text type field. But the good thing is that I can get to the data in some way.
