>>>No kidding today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read 'Vote Obama, I need the money.' I laughed.
>>>I got into the restaurant and again no kidding my server had on a 'Obama 08' tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence.
>>>When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in
>>>disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.
>>>I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I 've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.
>>>At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient needed money more.
>>>I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.
>>>
>>>You might try this experiment yourself
>>
>>So a man with a lot of money proved his point by using his wealth to patronise a couple of people with less money.
>>
>>How Republican of you.

>A few month's later as I made my way to the same restaurant for lunch, I noticed the same homeless guy. His sign didn't seem as funny the 2nd time around. A few steps further was a 2nd homeless guy, and I wondered what was becoming of my little town. As I passed him I noticed he was wearing a tie, I looked down and read "Obama 08". I looked up and saw that it was my waiter from my previous lunch. I also noticed that he was wearing a big smile...

>That's the effect of redistribution.

>Here's something that bothers me. There is always news about how teachers are underpaid and education is underfunded so teachers are having to buy their own supplies. Most teachers belong to a union and pay dues. Here's an example of their dues at work:

Yeah, I figured I'd post it as though I actually did it, then wait to see if anyone figured it out. I would have bet money, you would be the one. I would never give a homeless person money anyway (they tend to buy drugs with that, and we send a check to the Union Mission a couple of times a year), and I always tip 15-20% if the service is remotely good.

Teacher unions are not about education. They are about jobs and power. They fight to keep the most unqualified people in those teacher slots. I know, my wife was a teacher, and yes we bought a lot of the stuff which she used in her classrooms. Her situation was worse than most, she was an Art teacher, which meant 600 students a week, using supplies by the truckload.
