>>Like Tracy, I saw your message but haven't used the Test Harness so had nothing to contribute. How's life?

>Not being involved here anymore in the debates has given me quite a lot of time to spend to other things. Even my Dutch weblog has gotten less attention from me, giving me even more time to spend to other things. And so I did. One new activity (voluntary, not paid) is editorship of a little magazine, not vfp related by the way. So I'm still writing, but now articles, and now also doing interviews. I like journalistic work quite a lot, probably even more than software development. And there was a whole new network opening for me, even more because I'm editor in chief.

>At times I considered getting involved again in debates here. I get the impression that there are not too many too heated debates here anymore. Not sure why that is. Is it because moderation has improved? Anyway, I'm not sure how many people here would welcome me back and there are plenty of other activities in my life. Oh yes, there's one more reason why I still refuse to re-participate in debates: The twit filter. It is a really stupid, actually derogating and offensive, mechanism. Moreover, it hampers normal communication between members and thus even induces misunderstanding, thus giving even more so-called reason to members to add co-members to the twit filter. I get the impression that Naomi and I are the only ones here who have the guts to explicitly state that. Yes the twit filter is an offense, to me and my intellect, and to all others and their intellect. I'll not start to reconsider real re-participation before the twit filter is removed. It can simply be replaced by a real moderation/moderator system. Do some searching here and you'll find what I have proposed in this regard.

No, I don't use it. We are all flawed, me too, and I enjoy the human condition. Not directed at you -- you are emotional but you are also smart and I have enjoyed your contributions here.

The death of Studs Terkel hit me when I read about it the day before yesterday. He had an advanced degree from an elite university but didn't consider himself above anyone. He talked to everyone he met and illustrated the wisdom of the common man.
