>>>Just look at my hometown - a pic gallery of some guy at http://flickr.com/photos/miltank/show/ and look at the colors of the kiosks, lampposts, or the roof exit door on the last pic before he goes b/w - you will not find such colors in public places here, nor in anything that's on the market, for sale or rent. People simply got scared into thinking that it's impossible to sell anything that's brightly colored (except in few special places - look Richmond, VA on Google maps, find Main street east and take a street view).
>>>
>>>So everything is gray, grayish, creamy or whatever. Last year they started making cars in nice colors - but I still see new gray ones. BTW, the most stupid argument for such non-colors was "one can't see when it's dirty" - I prefer "nice car, why don't you wash it" to a car that looks like dirt, clean or not.

>>It depends on where you are in the states. We some have colorful places:

>Thanks for making my point. You had to make a list. It's not commonplace. Things like that are landmarks.
>
>Regular spaces are drab, gray, creamy and/or combined. Find me a city where it's common that factory or lumber yard fence is #004040 or #FF3030 or something where max(r/g, g/r, r/b, b/r)>4 or stronger. What is commonplace - the Sandbridge beach here, which is a three mile street, with very few houses priced below $250K, if any. On this three mile stretch, there are a total of ten houses which are in color. The rest are gray. I've counted several times this summer. There's a street view on Google maps - check how wrong I am. I may be color blind without knowing it.

People generally choose the color of their house. You are blaming a lack of bright or dark colors on the exterior of houses on what? People's choices? :o) I wouldn't want a dark or bright color because I live in the south and it absorbs too much heat. Are you upset because people prefer cream, white, beige or gray colored houses? :o) I prefer beige or cream on the outside myself.
