>The night before last I got one of my occasional good ideas. I am going to put together an oral history of FoxPro. It is probably the coolest developer tool that ever crashed and burned. The community is the best. (VB? Weenies). I want to be the Studs Terkel of this project, the collector of information.

My experience as editor of a little mag (not vfp related) is that this will only succeed if you contact people pro-actively. Your message here is a pro-active act, indeed, but it won't be enough. Stories won't fly in automatically. You'll have to network and put pressure on people. Also you'll have to interview them about things they wrote, verify their stories and so on.

It may well be a good idea, but that's not enough. Getting a good idea is only the first one percent of the whole endeavor. And probably the easiest percent. But it sure can be the part that keeps enthousiasm high and drive the other 99 percent.
