I'm generating a CSV file from data that will be opened from within excel. I want to avoid the field names at the top. I'm generating the file then using response.redirect to that file. This brings up your typical open, save and cancel dialog. This works great if you open immediately. The file shows no field headers.
But if you click the save from the dialog, it forces an xls extension. If you try to open within excel it will only have one column per row with all the commas showing..
This is a tool for users. I know there are ways that this can be fixed by a knowledgable user. Simply over-writing the xls with csv when saving fixes the problem. But this is too much to ask for our typical users.
Is there a way around this problem.
I want the save button to show .csv for the extension not .xls.
