Hey Gang!

Just bought a Gateway Desktop - the DX4720-03 Intel Dual-Core ES200 - 4 GB Memory - 640 MB HardDrive with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit (SP1).

Hooked it up to the home network using Ethernet. Also connected to the home network is the older eMachines with Vista Ultimate on it (Pentium D 3.2 Ghz single core - 2 MB memory - Windows Vista 32 bit Ultimate).

In moving the data over from the old PC to the new - the fastest speed I could get to move the data was around 3 MB / sec..... very slow. Just copying around 250 Gigs was going to take about 23 hours (YIKES!!!).

I went on the internet, and many others have had this nightmare also.... but I never found an answer to get the speed up (isn't the normal speed over 10 MB/sec for XP ??)

What do you think? What should I look for to speed things up?
