No, I don't think that voting along party lines makes you a clone. I don't necessarily approve of it, but this is politics we're talking about. What I mean is that the campaign was a perfect opportunity for McCain to come out and say "I didn't necessarily agree with this, but I was a good soldier - this is how/what I really think should work/happen". I think he attempted this early (very early) on and got slapped down by the GOP itself. I think his selection of Palin is a reflection of that. The GOP wouldn't let him have his first 2 choices, he couldn't stomach theirs, so we end up with a sock puppet in an 'up do'. I could be wrong, but it doesn't matter now.

I'm just hoping that, in the next 4 years, the Republican Party will start to regain its sanity and start working itself back into a Party that I'm not embarassed to be affiliated with. Yes, I'm one of those "Republicans for Obama" or, probably more correct, "Republicans embarrased and ashamed of their party".

I'm hoping that, in the next 4 years, Americans can get over being told they have to be afraid of every dark shadow in the corner.
I'm hoping that, in the next 4 years, we can finish off the second round of McCarthyism - otherwise known as the Patriot Act and the attitudes that accompany it.
I'm hoping that, in the next 4 years, "the bottom line" will quit being the be-all and end-all of American business. I don't mind you making a profit, but I do mind you making an obscene profit - and I'm sorry but posting earnings in the billions as you lay off thousands of people qualifies as obscene.
I'm hoping for a lot of things, and I really hope that I see some of them during Obama's presidency

>>>I was listening to BBC-America's coverage early on last night and I think I agree with the Brits. If the Republican Party had >>allowed McCain to BE McCain, and had not tried to make him a clone of W, election results might have been quite different.

>McCain said it himself - he voted with Bush 90% of the time. He made himself a clone of bush.

>And last night the American people clearly said they have had enough of it.
