http://www.panoramio.com/user/63118 is my collection - and for me, all those poles, fences, signal lights and hanging cables are part of the landscape, so I'm not avoiding them at all. http://www.panoramio.com/photo/14582120 for instance, is mostly cables and poles.

Most of the cables are electric; then phone and, last in line, TV cables. You see those around here a lot, because digging is so expensive. OK, there's the cost for cables torn by any stronger wind, and the thousands hit by blackouts - but these get fixed pretty quick and the maintenance teams are praised for working fast and around the clock.
