>I'm sorry Joel I couldn't disagree more. .Net is not anymore familiar than Java. And adding Linux as a different platform is again a silly statement - Linux is less complex than Windows by far. More resources from Microsoft - what about Sun, IBM and all the free resources of the Java, and Linux world. What about NetBeans, Eclipse and Mono - so many other editors and compliers?

I don't disagree with what you are saying, but let me clarify my previous statements:

1) Coming from FoxPro, .NET will be more a familiar environment to the developer than Java and most other languages.
2) I didn't make any statements about the complexity of Linux, but it IS different than Windows and anyone wanting to support it as a platform will have to learn it.
3) When looking at resources available for integrating FoxPro with or transitioning from FoxPro to another platform, more exist for .NET than for other platforms.

I still maintain those statements are true. Note that I did not say that .NET was better than other platforms, nor did I make any recommendations. In the context of familiarity to FoxPro developers and the ability to migrate to something else, .NET is a smaller jump, albeit still a big one, than most other platforms. To me, that seems relevant to this discussion.
