Good for you that you were involved. My eldest daughter was also an Obama volunteer. Not that I was happy with that, lol, but I was proud of her getting involved in the political process. I don't tell my kids what to think - I try to tell them how to think. They don't have to agree with me.

As the head of a bi-racial family, I was in a no-lose situation. Although I was more politically aligned with McCain, I don't see Obama as a bad guy unless he veers to the far left. If he does he'll be dumped in 2012 as we're still a center-right country. If he doesn't he could be a great President.

Obama represents that beautifully and I look forward to that example being a bridge to the future. Also, interestingly, this flies in the face of the kind of identity politics that have become the mainstay of the Democratic base and I hope it leads to his guiding his party in a better direction.
