In my original statement, I made a type'po. The maturity date should read 01/01/2119 not 01/01/2019. - this may clarify the problem slightly.

However my problem is not one of display, but rather, the fact that VFP makes an assumption about what the user has entered before I am able to validate the entry. As far as I can tell VFP changes the users entry of a 2 digit century before the VALID event fires. - Which means that when I interrogate it is already four digits.

Unfortunatley due to the nature of dates one cannot use the WHEN or the INTERACTIVECHANGE event to trap this value.
