They were out-of-town volunteers working for the Obama campaign, strangers to each other who'd been put together by the volunteer coordinator. They arrived at my house maybe 9 o'clock Saturday night and hadn't eaten since lunch. They were perfectly willing to be directed to a restaurant, but I don't generally let people leave my house hungry. So we scrounged up a meal from my fridge.
