I don't think it's the end of racism, but I do think it's a huge step in the right direction for two reasons.

1) For blacks and other minorities, it's a signal that more doors are open than ever before. I heard someone (can't remember who, but a black celebrity) talking about how this removes excuses for black kids not to achieve.

2) Much of racism is about fear of the unknown. For the next 4 (or 8) years, the American public is going to have an ongoing look at a black family. I'm hopeful that for some people, this will help to eliminate their fear.
