The situation is quite similar; but instead of using TRY/CATCH you have to use ON ERROR.
The point is, when accessing anything outside your application, many things can go wrong. The table might not exist, the user may not have sufficient privileges in the folder, or, of course, the file may be in use. So, it makes sense to do some error checking.
