>Comes in a really stupid case that I cannot for the life of me see how you open. I can see a hinge but it defies all attempts to open it so I am now going to break the stupid perspex box.

If you didn't already break it, I went through this not long ago. First, be sure there isn't any tape holding the top or right side in place. Then grasp the wraparound tabs near the top of the right side and pull down. If the little red tape piece at the upper left is already outside before you open it the first time (I don't remember), you can also open the case by pulling that to the right.

Seemingly unbreakable packages have become an issue here. So many people have complained about how difficult they are to open, the manufacturers are finally listening. Some new packaging is already on the way in place of the notorious clamshell plastic ones. There was an article in the NY Times about this a week or so ago. Amazon is again taking the lead. They have deals with some of the big manufacturers to ship their products to Amazon in plain cardboard boxes instead of the standard retail packaging. Of course, Amazon doesn't have to worry about theft like brick and mortar stores.
