I would have to say my current job is pretty stable, and that is one of the big cons of the new one. The employer is somewhat of a major employer in the area and has a pretty good reputation, but I do understand that things change daily.

Not having a job though, that's a lot more than six percent and would greatly affect your quality of life. If you can tell yourself with some certainty - as much as anyone can today anyway - that they will be doing ok for the next year or so, then I would go for it.
